The Pension Commission was given responsibility in 2016 for the administration of the Pension Trust Funds Act 1966 which had previously been under the responsibility of the Government’s Registrar-General. Prior to the introduction of the National Pension Scheme (Occupational Pensions) Act 1998, this was the primary legislation providing for registration by employers of private pension funds in Bermuda.
There are a small number of plans registered under this Act and they are mostly established by international company employers for non-Bermudian beneficiaries.
